Do you read countless articles and books in pursuit of discovering how to get a toned body? Do you crave the look of athletes, fitness competitors, or swimsuit models? Do you want to get toned muscles?
If you answered yes to any of these, then relax for a moment! Most people put undue pressure on themselves to look good and get a toned body, many times to the point where they forget to get "toned" in other areas of their lives. Remember that your overall goal should not be to "look good." Instead your goal should be to get healthy, athletic, and have the energy necessary to pursue other areas of life. Chances are that by following the basic rules and pursue overall health you will get that toned body you want in the process.
Starting tonight, consider taking action on these three no-cost suggestions. They are simple to understand, easy to implement, and will get you on the road to getting toned muscles and increase your overall health.
First, go the FDA website and determine how much water you need to drink per day. Many people are significantly dehydrated, and that can be the cause of many lingering minor health concerns such as headaches, low energy, and similar concerns. Get a pitcher or water bottle that you have somewhere in your home, and fill it up with spring (or filtered) water and put it in the fridge. If you need flavor, get some lemon juice or real fruit juice - or mint - and add it to your water.
When you drink less-than-adequate amounts of water, your body will hold onto water to preserve itself. By drinking the recommended amounts of water you will actually help your body flush out the "retained" water. Not only is this recommendation no-cost, it is also a major step on you can get a toned body!
Second, choose some form of exercise which is appropriate for what your doctor has approved you to do and which is within your budget. If that means all you do is some bodyweight exercises in between commercials (yes, commercial breaks actually can be a good thing) then fine. Obviously, as time goes on you need to increase your exercise levels so that you can increase your lean muscle and burn more body fat while you are sleeping.
Make sure that the activity you choose is within your capacity to do and is realistic. If you played sports in high school, yet haven't worked out in 15 years, then the odds are that you will not be able to perform the same activities or perform them at the same level of intensity and proficiency as you did when you were a kid. Instead, choose something which motivates you and is truly fun for you. Over time, the activity which is most fun will keep you motivated on those days when you do not feel like exercising.
Finally, in order to get a toned body, be sure to write down your goal on paper. Place it somewhere where you will see it at least twice a day so that you begin to become certain that you will reach it. In addition, write your goal in a "toward" or "pleasure-seeking" language. For example, "I want to lose 30 pounds so that I won't feel fat," is NOT a good goal. Such a goal is based on what you do NOT want.
Instead, take a few minutes to think about what you DO want. A goal such as, "I want to increase my lean muscle mass by 10 pounds (and fat will drop off naturally) so that I can run a 5K by the end of the summer," is much more specific AND it is focused on what you DO want.
Consider taking action tonight on these three suggestions. They will help you begin to improve your overall physical health, focus your mind on what you truly want, and they will help you find the best solution for you on how to get a toned body.
